Rainforest Management and Conservation
Forests, especially the rainforests play a vital role in the global climate and are home to an estimated 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Despite this, forests are being lost at an alarming rate - around 13 million hectares each year - due largely to human activity.
There are many reasons why forests are important and worth conserving. They help regulate the global climate by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen into the atmosphere. They also play a key role in water cycles, helping to regulate precipitation and prevent floods. Rainforests are also home to an incredible amount of biodiversity, with many plants and animals found nowhere else on Earth.There are several ways in which forests can be conserved, from planting more trees; reducing our reliance on wood products; or by protecting existing forests from further destruction.
Our approach, however, would emphasize on how to best addressing those needs, such as the care for its vital resources and functions, the protection of wildlife, human-wildlife conflicts and the socio-economic factor of its surrounding population. The key here is how to condition a rainforest, so that it can still be productive and contribute economically. Thus, it benefits communities or dwellers around the conservation’s zone that would likely preventing them from poaching wildlife and illegal logging.
Our current Pilot Project now is in Aceh Jaya, which is a customary forest farming and land management in Rabeu-Lamno. This is a joint-venture project with Rimbe Unai, a group of natives people who funded the initial project in mid 2019, to grow around 25000 arabica coffee trees, avocado, organic vegetables, patchouli and other natural herbs.
